How To Replace An AirPort Card

1.      Turn off your MacBook. Unplug the power cable from its socket, close the display panel, and place the notebook face down. Use a coin or flathead screwdriver to turn the locking screw of the battery cover counterclockwise a half turn. Remove the cover and remove the battery from the compartment.

2.      Remove the Phillips screws inside the empty battery compartment. Remove the L-shaped bracket inside the battery compartment. Remove the Phillips screws revealed by the L-shaped bracket. Remove the 10 Phillips screws that line the outer edge of the laptop case. Then, remove any remaining visible case screws at the bottom of the laptop.

3.      Flip the laptop over and open the billboard. Grasp the top edge of the keyboard assembly and lift the keyboard off the laptop a bit. Draw the orange ribbon cable from the backside of the keyboard from its connector on the motherboard. Release the clips on each side of the tablecloth where he meets the mother. Unplug the ribbon cable from the motherboard and remove the keyboard from the laptop.

4.      Locate the rectangular AirPort card near the center of the motherboard when you have unplugged the ribbon cable. Unplug the antenna cables from the AirPort card, then carefully slide the AirPort card out of its compartment and set aside.

5.      Slide the new AirPort card into the empty slot until it is securely connected to the motherboard. Reconnect the black antenna cables to the new card. Follow the disassembly procedure in reverse to reassemble the notebook.
