How To Use A USB Hub And Access Hard Drives With AirPort Extreme
The AirPort Extreme has a
USB port through which you can access a range of compatible USB devices,
including printers, scanners, and external hard drives. Because the AirPort
Extreme has only one USB port, you must use a USB hub if you want to connect multiple
USB-compatible devices. To function properly, the USB hub must have its own
power supply; it cannot be powered by the bus.
Instructions
1. Connect the USB hub to the
"USB" port on the back of the AirPort Extreme using the USB cable of
the hub.
2. Plug the power of the USB
hub cable into a power outlet. Turn on the USB hub if it has its own power
button.
3. Connect your devices to
the USB hub and turn them on.
4. Launch the AirPort Utility
on your computer. The AirPort Utility is located in the Mac and Computer Applications
folder in the Major Programs directory on Windows computers. If you do not have
an AirPort installed on your computer, download and install it.
5. Select your AirPort
Extreme device in the AirPort application and click "Continue."
6. Follow the on-screen
instructions to create a new wireless connection with the devices connected to
your Photos hub.

Network Attached Storage has
become as common as multimedia devices, and they can be easily connected to the
internet for a number of tasks such as file sharing and streaming media, etc.
If you want, you can access NAS drives by connecting them to the AirPort Extreme Wireless Access Point from Apple via
remote share mounting. As we all know that modern file managers are designed
keeping the file-sharing in mind, therefore, it is easy to access remote share
because you know the IP address of your AirPort Extreme. In case, you don’t,
then the IP address can be found on the list, which is present under the gateway
in the network settings.
Here is how you can access the hard drives connected to Apple
AirPort Extreme:
1. Open a file browser
window, which is Mac Finder for Mac computers and Windows Explorer for Windows
computers.

share, where the IP address of the NAS is 192.168. 0.5 and "share" is
the name of the action. In Mac OS X, you need to click "OK" then
"Connect to Server" followed by typing smb://192.168.0.5/share. In
case, you are unaware of the IP address of the NAS that you wish to access,
then you can run a utility, one like AirPort Disk (Windows) or AirPort Utility
(Mac) to determine it.
3. Now, you will have to
enter the login details to access the share.
