The Best Guide To Reset Your AirPort Express

AirPort Express was one of the most sought after routing device coming from the house of Apple. The device occupied a good amount of market for good 6-7 years before succumbing to giants such as Netgear, Belkin, D-Link and more. However, there is still a big population in the US who are using AirPort Express. Moreover, Apple continues to provide support for its lone routing device. If you too are using AirPort Express for connecting to the internet and facing issues with the device lately, then you can opt to reset the device, information of which you can find in the section below.

If you are having problems with your AirPort Express, you may want to reset it. You can do so by pressing the reset button on AirPort Express. However, what if this does not solve your problem, what options do you have? Let’s discuss those now.

To reset your AirPort Express, you will get three different ways, and we are going to discuss all three. The problem with all three ways is that one way of resetting the device doesn’t solve the problem that another way might. The three types of redefinition we are referring to are "soft", "hard" and at last, "factory". It does not matter what problem you are facing, you shouldn’t be hesitant of going for the soft factory reset in the first place after which, you can move ahead with other steps.

Soft Replenishment

A soft reset is often useful when you forget your password and need to change it.

Let the device be connected through the network preference, select AirPort from the menu. Click TCP/IP and select "Using DHCP" from the pop-up that appears on the screen. Now, you need to press and hold the reset button on the device for 1 second. You will see a yellow light flashing, which means you can make the necessary changes in five minutes time frame that you’ve got before the device will go back to the last saved settings.

Hard Reset

Hard reset is usually a good choice when you see the device to be in a non-functional state. However, the process won’t remove your saved profiles.

By leaving AirPort Express plugged in, you need to hold the reset button on AirPort Express for 10 seconds. A green light will blink, which will indicate that your AirPort is done rebooting itself. Once the device has been reset, you need to get access of AirPort Express Assistant or AirPort Admin to configure AirPort Express.

Factory reset

The factory reset process involves unplugging of the device from the electrical outlet. Once you unplug the device, press and hold the reset button on the device, and as you hold the reset button, connect the device. The green light will blink four times and as it does, you should know that the time has come when you must release the reset button because AirPort Express will reboot. Therefore, you need to wait for about a minute and then, you need to move on with the configuration of your device with AirPort Express Assistant or Admin Utility.

With that, your AirPort Express is reset and now, you can configure it from the beginning. The problem you were facing before is also eradicated now, so there won’t be any issue accessing the internet.
